We're only a few days away from 2021 and as always, a new year comes with an onslaught of new trends in all fields but especially in fashion. While winter has us all covered up, spring 2021 brings back florals and a slew of other fashion statements to look forward to. And while our fashionable moments may only be appreciated through Zoom, moving on from loungewear might just be the thing we all need to perk up for the year ahead. Here are some forecasted fashion trends to watch out for in 2021.

Florals

As Marie Claire reports, floral prints will usher in the spring. As seen on the runways for Spring 2021, Rodarte, Anna Sui and Erdem paraded boldly patterned dresses, tops, and bottoms to signal the end of gloomy winter.

Oversized Shoulder-Pad Boyfriend Jackets

Looks like the '80s are making a comeback with its trademark shoulder pads. To update this look, The Trend Spotter suggests pairing your oversized shoulder-pad boyfriend jacket with straight leg trousers or leather shorts. You may also want to look for jackets in charcoal, powder blue and other neutral colors.

Wide-Leg Trousers

Celebrity stylist Chloe Harstein tells InStyle while most people have been used to wearing loungewear and loose clothes during the pandemic, it would be nice to upgrade that look with wide-leg trousers. It's still comfortable but is more put together than pajamas. Wide-leg trousers were seen on the runways of Balenciaga, Chanel, Fendi and Louis Vuitton.

Cutouts

Prada, Victoria Beckham, and Zara show that it's time to let a little skin show after months of living in head-to-toe loungewear.

Feathers

As seen on the Spring runways of Fendi and No. 21, let your imagination fly away and don feathered skirts, sweaters, dresses, or accessories. Keep everything simple once you've chosen your statement piece.

Sheer Coverage

From the heavy textures of winter, spring will see you in sheer dresses, tops and bottoms as shown on the spring runways by Dior, Miu Miu and Sportmax.

Yellow Bags

One of Pantone's colors of 2021, yellow is timeless and always an effective accent color against any outfit. From amber and canary to lemon or mustard, there are many shades to complement whatever getup you have in mind.

Fringes on Bags

From curtain bangs to long tassels on bags, it looks like all types of fringes are back and here to stay. One of the biggest trends in 2021 will be fringed bags. From leather to shearling, the trend on bags will be long fringes that almost reach the floor. Go for black or brown for a classic feel or red or green if you want a standout piece.

Blue Accessories

If your closet is full of dark clothes, add a pop of color with a bright blue hat, scarf, clutch, or pair of boots.

Black Face Masks

As the future is uncertain, masks are here to stay. Black masks go with any outfit and by now, there are many styles and shapes to choose from without compromising your health. For a sleeker look, pair with a black bag and black footwear.
