Melanie Brown, popularly known as Mel B, reportedly filed for divorce with husband Steven Belafonte with whom the actress has spent 10 years. The news came out just weeks after their coziest posts on Instagram, which also stated 'how much they love each other and how they would die for each other', which makes the separation even more surprising for the fans.

According to Metro, the "America's Got Talent" star filed legal documents at the Los Angeles Superior Court stating 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason behind ending her marriage. It was revealed by the papers that the Mel B decided to file for divorce on December 28, 2016, and asked for joint legal and physical custody for their five-year-old daughter Madison along with termination of spousal support.

Mel tied knot with Stephan in 2007 in Las Vegas soon after a short romance. They again renewed their vows having their families beside in 2008 in Egypt. There were several rumors of their split over the years, which the couple has constantly denied, latest being the social media declaration of love, reports Huffington Post.

"My baby boo @stephenthinks11. We have been through everything that would normally tear couples apart and we have come out on the other side stronger. You loved me before I even knew how to really love myself. You are my world, honey," wrote Mel. She further joked that the 41-year-old movie producer is a bit of a D**khead. In a report by Daily Mail, the divorce paper also mentioned that "The X Factor UK" star is being represented by attorney Susan Wiesner, who has handled cases of many US stars.

This is not the first time Mel is divorcing. The 41-year-old actress was previously married to Jimmy Gulzar who shares an 18-year-old daughter Phoenix. The couple ended their two-year marriage in 2000. Later, Mel began a relationship with actor Eddie Murphy with whom she has a child, Angel.
