Emma Watson is the latest victim of online hackers as over a dozen of her private pictures has been stolen and leaked on the Internet on Tuesday night. And now, the 26-year-old actress is taking legal action against those who are behind this cyber crime and expressed her hatred for people commenting on the pictures.
The "Harry Potter" star's publicist spoke to media on Wednesday and clarified that the pictures show Watson trying out different clothes with a stylist a couple of years ago. "There are no nude pictures. Lawyers have been instructed and we won't comment further," said her publicist.
According to BBC, the leaks came a week after Watson confronted media over the fierce debate on whether she was anti-feminist for revealing her breasts in Vanity Fair photoshoot. Sources also revealed that the photos had been shared on 'dark web', an encrypted part of the Internet, which can only be accessed through special knowledge.
As reported by the Guardian, this is not the first time Watson was threatened of nude leak pictures. In 2014, the actress received several threats, including an online clock that stated, 'Emma, You are next', after she delivered a motivational speech on gender equality as a UN Ambassador for Women.
"I received threat within less than 12-hours the minute I stepped up and gave a speech on Women's Rights," wrote the "Beauty and the Beast" actress. As reported by the Washington Post, a man named Edward Majerczyk was arrested in February and sentenced to nine months in the case of hacking into celebrities personal accounts that include, Jennifer Lawrence and leaking private photos and information online.
Other than Watson, actress Amanda Seyfried is also taking legal action against a website which leaked private intimate moments of the 31-year-old actress with former boyfriend Justin Long. It is still not certain if the person behind the theft and leaking of pictures of Seyfried and Watson are the same.
