Sam Smith may have a beef with a fellow pop star.

The 22-year-old singer opened up about his peers in the music industry, calling them out in the latest issue of V magazine, in which he graces the cover.

The "Stay With Me" hitmaker didn't disclose any specific names but he didn't hold back in expressing his opinion of some of the industry's younger acts.

"Even when you meet them—I won't name names—but some of these pop stars are just awful," Smith told his interviewer, music icon Chaka Khan.

"And they have not even had half the success that you've had and yet you're so humble and kind," he continued, praising Khan.

"Well, it's people skills," Khan explained. "Talking to a screen all day long takes the human experience out. Luckily I grew up in a time when we only had a telephone at home."

Khan may have found a new BFF in Smith during the interview as she has promised to work on a project together with him in the future, E! News noted.

"We are definitely going to write a song together," Khan told Smith.

Smith, of course, was eager to work with the music superstar and immediately agreed.

"Hundred percent, I'm in," he replied. "I was actually thinking me, you, and Mary [J. Blige] would do something."

"That'd be hot," Khan replied. "She's a good writer."

One person who might be more ecstatic than Smith about the possibility of a collaboration would be the singer's mother, who is apparently a big fan of Khan's.

"My mom always used to joke around with her friends, when I was, like, 12 years old—'It's all good. Sam's just got to get Chaka Khan to sing with him when I'm in my 50s,'" Smith recalled. "I rang her this morning and she was like, ‘I can't believe you.'"
