Adam Sandler has topped Forbes' 2014 list of the Most Overpaid Actors in Hollywood, making it the second year in a row that the comedian has been named as such, News Day reported.

According to the magazine's estimate, Sandler's 2013 film "Grown Ups 2" did well in numbers, but it was unable to make up for his two previous efforts, 2012's "That's My Boy" and 2011's "Jack and Jill." This led to Sandler yielding a return of only $3.20 for every $1 paid.

Forbes even claimed that there was the possibility that Sony Entertainment would eventually let go of Sandler given the numbers. This was highly likely especially after the Sony hacking debacle revealed that there have been complaints of Sandler's "mundane, formulaic" movies.

No matter the possibility of parting ways with Sony, Forbes stated there was the change the Sandler can turn things around with his partnership with Netflix. The two parties have come to an agreement about the comedian producing four original films, which may turn out successful given that Sandler's films are popular on the streaming service.

Following Sandler on the list are numerous supposedly overpaid actors and actresses, according to Vulture. In the top ten alone there are nine actors in total with one actress.

Rounding up the top five are Johnny Depp with $4.10, Ben Stiller with $4.80, Ryan Reynolds with $4.90 and Tom Hanks with $5.20, all for every $1 paid.

Will Ferrell is at sixth with $6.60, Channing Tatum with $6.70 and Denzel Washington with $6.90. The lone actress in the top ten is Sandra Bullock with $9 for every $1 paid, and last in the top ten is Ben Affleck at $9.37.

Forbes created the list by compiling the estimates of their Celebrity 100 list, looking into the last three major films of each actor or actress before the cutoff date of June 2014 and the budget and revenue of each film.

Cameos, animated films or films shown on less than 2000 screens were not included. The figures are then divided by each film's operating income to come up with the final numbers, according to TIME.
