Singer and actress Jana Kramer got engaged to football player Michael Cuassin on her birthday, Dec. 2, according to Hollywood Life.

Cuassin popped the question to Kramer in Nashville, in front of some of their family and friends. Kramer, who is also known for her stint on the drama series "One Tree Hill," confirmed the news in a statement.

"It was a beautiful surprise," Kramer said. "He was the perfect gentleman. Nervous, on one knee, and surrounded by some of the people that love us the most."

The couple started dating in August, according to People. While in Milwaukee to do show in mid-August, the "Love" singer hinted at her first date with Caussin by posting a photo of them on Facebook, enjoying a carousel ride at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

She captioned the photo: "Playing at the Milwaukee zoo tonight! Makes me miss this guy #firstdate #zoo #love."

This is Kramer's fourth time to get engaged. She was engaged to fellow country singer Brantley Gilbert but called it off in August 2013. Prior to that, she was married to actor Johnathan Schaech in July 2010; they split after two months and their divorce was finalized in 2011. In 2004, Kramer married actor Michael Gambino.

Kramer may have prepared herself before getting into a relationship with Caussin as she shared how she was enjoying the single life prior to meeting the NFL player, according to Taste of Country.

"For me, right now I'm just happy being me and doing my own thing. I' m just focused now on spreading love," Kramer said in June. "Love for me is not just about having a relationship. I'm single and actually really happy for the first time to be single."

She continued, "We've all been through some heartbreaks, but for me I still believe in love. I think love is about giving back and loving everyone around you - even if it's just a simple wave or a smile."
