It's official! Kathy Griffin is going to be part of E!'s fashion critique show "Fashion Police" when it returns this January.

The 54-year-old actress-comedienne landed the co-hosting gig as the replacement of the late Joan Rivers, according to The Independent.

Word on Kathy Griffin's possible role in the returning show surfaced in the wake of Rivers' passing in September due to cerebral hypoxia.

Early this month, Griffin revealed that producers of the show have asked her to fill in the spot Joan left.

"It's definitely something that I've put a lot of thought into," the "Suddenly Susan" star said. "Obviously there is an emotional tie for me because Joan was such a good friend of mine, a close friend, truly a mentor - but also a legit friend."

Griffin also admitted that even when Joan Rivers was still alive, they have already considered the idea of being part of the show.

"Ironically, she and I talked about it many times," Griffin exclusively told People. "She would joke that, no matter what, I should always get 10 percent less than she got."

"We talked about everything, and we joked about everything on the table, so it's something that I've been thinking about for a while and I think it's something they've been thinking about too," she added.

And indeed, everyone's pleased with Griffin's addition to the show. Even Joan's daughter Melissa Rivers, who is the executive producer of the show, has already given her blessing to the "Pulp Fiction" star's "Fashion Police" co-hosting gig.

The newest fashion police also joked about what makes her the perfect replacement.

"I have been a fashion 'don't' for years!" she said. "I used to actually laminate my 'What Was She Thinking?' pictures and put them on my refrigerator, but they then covered the entire wall. I am not afraid to be a 'do' or a 'don't.' We'll see what happens."

Griffin is joining regular "Fashion Police" co-hosts Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and Melissa when the show returns. On the contrary, George Kotsiopoulos' involvement is yet to be confirmed.

The E! series is set to return this January 2015 with a different format from its usual weekly airing. Us Weekly reports that the fashion critique series will only air whenever there are awards shows and special events.
