Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen welcome their first child, a baby girl named Briar Rose, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, Celebuzz reported.
Sources have confirmed that Bilson and her boyfriend Christensen have a new baby girl whom they named Briar Rose.
Her name is reportedly in reference to the 1959 film "Sleeping Beauty," in which Princess Aurora was spirited away by three fairies to save her from a curse by the witch Maleficent. To hide her true identity, the fairies named her Briar Rose.
Reps for Bilson said that both the mother and the baby were healthy and doing well, according to NEWS. They also stated that Bilson and Christensen have asked the paparazzi to avoid taking photos of their new child.
Bilson and Christensen are supporters of the No Kids Policy, which urges the paparazzi to stop taking photographs of the children of celebrities. It also calls for media outlets to refuse associating with those who do so, and to stop publishing those photos.
Bilson, 33, first announced that she and Christensen, also 33, were expecting a baby in May, according to US Weekly.
"They've both talked about this for a while and are so excited," a source close to the two said of the pregnancy. "Everyone is beyond thrilled for them."
Bilson has always been open about her desire to start a family, saying back in 2013 in an interview in Cosmopolitan that "I definitely have family on the brain. Having kids is something I want to see in my future."
Bilson held a private baby shower on Aug. 31 at Los Angeles. She had asked guests not to bring gifts, but instead bring birth beads to be made into a necklace and something to give her strength during her labor.
Bilson and Christensen met in 2007 on the set of "Jumper." The couple were engaged in December 2008 before calling it off in August 2010. They reconciled three months later and Bilson announced her pregnancy in May 2014.
