Tyler Posey has revealed that he and longtime girlfriend Seana Gorlick are no longer together.

The 23-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of Scott McCall on the hit MTV supernatural drama "Teen Wolf," broke the sad news to Us Weekly at the ASPCA Cocktail Event in honor of Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Nikki Reed in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles Wednesday, Oct. 22.

"You're the first interview I've said this to. We have broken up," he said. "I'm just gonna get it out there because I get sad talking about it. I'm just gonna get it out there now so that hopefully people start hearing about it."

The Santa Monica, California-born actor also confirmed that they had officially split and were not merely postponing their wedding.

He said that he is "okay," but when asked if he was still friends with Gorlick, he answered, "I don't know."

Posey, who said that he had been in love with Gorlick since he was 12 years old, popped the question in July 2013 on a 12-day vacation to Hawaii.

Posey opened up to Hollywood Life about the way he proposed to his middle-school sweetheart on their 10-year anniversary.

"We went to Hawaii for twelve days, and we'd never been there before. I had the ring on me, but I didn't know if I was going to do it - I didn't have a plan or anything," he said. "It was the first night there, we were just hanging out before dinner talking for like an hour, just like, she's my best friend. And I had it hidden in this drawer and I pulled it out one time, and I was so damn nervous I couldn't even smell anything. And I just asked her, and it was the coolest thing in the world. Her reaction was the sweetest - I can't even explain it. It was the best thing in the world!"

Posey, who also hosted the 2014 Teen Choice Awards with "Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland in August, also talked about his engagement back at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con.

"I couldn't really put it into words when I was that young but I always had this really strong connection to her and it's just been something I can't really explain other than I want to marry you and be with you forever," said the "Maid in Manhattan" star, as quoted by E! News. "You just know. You definitely just know and I know."
