Following its record-breaking Season 4 premiere on Oct. 8, FX has renewed "American Horror Story" for another season.

The network announced Monday, Oct 13, that the horror anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk was picked up for a 13-episode fifth season, which will return in October 2015.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" premiere telecast has become the most-watched single program in FX's 20-year-history. When factoring in three days of delayed viewing, the carnival-themed show delivered 10 million total viewers, 6.54 million in adults 18-49 and 4.08 million among adults 18-34.

It surpassed the network's previous record holder, the recent seventh and final season premiere telecast of the hit crime drama series "Sons of Anarchy" on Sept. 9, which drew in 9.25 million total viewers and 6.1 million in adults 18-49.

"The American Horror Story anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history, not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition," said FX CEO John Landgraf in a statement. "With Ryan Murphy and his partners, Brad Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto and Tim Minear at the helm, the show's success is not surprising. AHS continues to deliver amazing stories, a brilliant troupe of actors led by Jessica Lange, and a visual style unlike any other on TV.

"With 'Nip/Tuck,' 'Glee,' 'The Normal Heart,' and 'American Horror Story,' Ryan Murphy has established himself as one of the most successful and prolific producers of this generation," Landgraf added. "We expect 'AHS: Freak Show' and the next incarnation of 'AHS' to further his legacy."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy told reporters that he has already figured out what Season 5 will be.

"There are clues in the first two episodes because I figured out season 5 very early on and I know that the fans love that. So there are clues that are dropped," he said.

Fans of the show were quick to take to social media to share their ideas about the series' next season. As Moviepilot pointed out, Twitter user Jalenw4l posted four photos suggesting that Season 5 has something to do with space and aliens.

Blogger Breeveandk has similar observations, writing:

"I don't know if these might actually be hints, but I just got bombarded with all of these in my head at once: The show takes place in Jupiter, Florida. Dot has a line in the very beginning where she says, '...like the inescapable pull of gravity...' Jessica Lange's character is named Elsa Mars, and she sang 'Life on Mars' Something to do with space, maybe?"

As for who among the cast will return, viewers can expect Paulson to come back, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I've already reached out to three actors I've loved forever," Murphy told THR, noting that one "real TV legend" approached him on a red carpet and asked if he could be a part of the show.
