Emma Roberts has said that the upcoming "American Horror Story: Freak Show" is more frightening than "American Horror Story: Coven."

Proof? The 23-year-old actress has revealed that the scripts for the new installment gave her bad dreams.

Speaking at Target's annual After-Hours Shopping Event, the Neutrogena Brand Ambassador told E! News, "'American Horror Story,' in general, scares me to death. I was a fan of the first two seasons before I came on."

Roberts, who joined the original cast of the FX horror anthology series in its third season, shared that she would re-watch episodes of the Emmy-winning show and not remember scenes because she was hiding during them.

If fans were terrified by the group of witches from last season, the "We're the Millers" actress teased that viewers better brace themselves for Season 4. "I have to say, 'Freak Show' is really scarier...I read the script and I was having nightmares," she told E! News.

Set in 1952, "Freak Show" will tell the story of Elsa Mars, a German expat who manages one of the last remaining freak shows in the country based in Jupiter, Fla. Jessica Lange plays Elsa, and some of her freaks include Sarah Paulson as the conjoined twins named Bette and Dot Tattler, Kathy Bates as the bearded lady Effil Darling, Michael Chiklis as the strong man Wendell Del Toredo and Angela Bassett as Desiree Dupre, who looks to have three breasts based on the recently released cast art of the show.

Other stars include Evan Peters, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Jyoti Amge, John Carroll Lynch, Patti LaBelle, Matt Bomer, and of course, Roberts as Maggie, who may not look like a freak on the outside, the actress told E! News. "But that might not be true."

This will be Lange's fourth season of "American Horror Story" and probably her last. During an interview with BuzzFeed last year, which took place while "Coven" was airing, she confessed that she made the decision that she would only sign on for one more season.

Despite Lange's decision to exit the series after "Freak Show," Roberts said that she is hoping that the 65-year-old two-time Oscar-winning actress will return for another season.

"I think all of us have our fingers crossed that Jessica will come back next season. At least I do because I love working with her. I hope it's not her last season," Roberts said.

Series' co-creator Ryan Murphy also addressed the possibility of Lange's leaving the show in an interview with Vulture last year.

"I'll always work with Jessica and I'll always do whatever she's interested in doing. There are no bad feelings at all. I totally respect her point of view. If she doesn't do season 5, I'll definitely spend a lot of my time trying to seduce her with stuff for seasons 6 and 7 because she's Jessica Lange and I love her," Murphy said.

"Freak Show" premieres on Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. on FX.
