Game developer Capcom announced that it will release a free downloadable content (DLC) update for the "Ultra Street Fighter IV," IGN reported.

According to the studio, the DLC will enhance the fighting moves of all of the game's 44 characters. This applies to both the standard and special attacks of the characters.

Capcom's community manager, Peter "Combofiend" Rosas, said the release of Omega Mode is the company's way of adding flare to the long-running fighting game.

"We plan to bring you a completely new, completely free and most importantly completely fun version of your favorite 44 characters in Omega Mode later this year," Rosas wrote on the Capcom blog.

"For those wondering, Omega Mode is a completely new mode in which every character has been modified and outfitted with new normal and special attacks, resulting in a refreshing take on the characters you've come to know and love over the last six years," he added.

"As the primary goal for this mode was fun, we placed more emphasis on making the characters feel new, than on their balance," Rosas continued. This means that strong, fan favorite attacks such as Ken's Shinppu Jinrai Kyaku and Sagat's Tiger Raid make their return while other characters such as Zangief gain new abilities."

Omega Mode can be played online but is only available in unranked matches. This means the DLC cannot be used in official Capcom tournaments such as the Capcom Pro Tour, according to Game Spot.

Rosas made the announcement along with details of the version 1.04 patch which aims to fix certain issues on the game.

"The version 1.04 patch improves upon the version 1.02 patch released earlier this year by addressing more of the issues brought to our attention by our most diehard fans," Rosas explained.

"Some of the fixes you can expect to see are the Decapre and Rolent changes introduced in the (version) B patch reverted, as well as Cody's Light Ruffian Kick once again causing a hard knockdown against airborne opponents as it did in AE 2012," he added.

The version 1.04 patch will be released in October of this year. There is no official release date yet for Omega Mode but Rosas said Capcom will unveil it sometime this year.
