Ellen Pompeo recently made a shocking revelation about her future acting career plans after saying that she doesn't have any, Us Weekly has learned.

The "Grey's Anatomy" actress, who plays Meredith Grey on the medical drama series, was at a BuzzFeed-hosted panel  on Wednesday, Sept. 10, alongside famous show creator Shonda Rhimes, "Scandal" lead star Kerry Washington and actress Viola Davis, when she spilled the beans on her future plans.

"I definitely don't have a strong desire to act after Grey's," the 44-year-old mother of one said.

"I definitely feel myself transitioning," she resumed. "I don't find acting terribly empowering. For the place I am in my life... I don't necessarily want to work for other people."

To her words, Washington reportedly nodded and smiled, saying, "Wow, that's a great statement," noted Entertainment Weekly.

"I feel like the acting has been a wonderful opportunity, and I've just done so much of it over the past 11 years..." Pompeo, who has been with the show since it premiered in March 2005, further explained.

Pompeo's bold decision may have stemmed from her strong sense of completion with her work on the long-running yet still hit ABC series, according to BuzzFeed.

"With acting, I don't feel I have anything to prove anymore," she said. "Grey's is in 97 countries or something and we've had this blessing of all these wonderful fans who still love us 10 years later. I feel like I did it and I don't have anything left to prove, and I'd like to try to challenge myself."

The "Catch Me If You Can" actress then revealed that she is looking into trying something new and different from the career she has now.

"I'd like to try and challenge myself. I feel like I got the acting thing. I would like to try and see if I could do something different, and be successful at something different. I feel like I'm very successful at acting, at my definition of success," she quipped.

Well, it appears that she's already preparing her transition to a different line of work as she has recently signed on to executive produce an ABC Family series that is based on Rachel Carey's 2013 novel titled "Debt." Plus, Pompeo's production company, Calamity Jane, has already made its first network sale in August.

Meredith Grey fans shouldn't be worried if their favorite character would still be appearing on the show or would eventually make a planned exit like what happened to Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang. Pompeo has already renewed her contract under the series for two more years.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 is set to premiere on Sept. 25.
