Former Word Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Sean O'Haire was found dead from what appeared to be suicide, TMZ reports. He was 43.
O'Haire, whose real name was Sean Haire, was found unresponsive by police at his home in North Carolina. He was found beside his bed in his room with a rope tied around his neck.
O'Haire became an addition to the many wrestlers whose deaths were untimely, notes Daily Mirror.
In April, The Ultimate Warrior, whose real name was James Hellwig, died hours after telling his fans: "Every man's heart one day beats is final beat." Hellwig, 54, had just been inducted to the wrestling Hall of Fame.
O'Haire debuted as a professional wrestler with the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 2000. He was part of the final tag team champions, with Chuck Palumbo, before the organization ceased its operations, according to the Daily Mail.
He then moved on to the more popular WWE, where he became the protégé of wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper.
O'Haire was being poised for stardom when his mentor left, causing his career to dampen. He was released by the organization in 2004.
He then ventured into kickboxing and MMA, and then eventually became a hairstylist.
The former wrestler had been faced with a number of felony charges and had had a few run-ins with the law, according to Hollywood Life.
In 2006, O'Haire was arrested in connection to an alleged assault of a woman at a club in 2004. The woman eventually confessed the accusations were not true and O'Haire was found not guilty.
The former WWE star was also reported to have been involved in a fight in March 2007. He sustained fractures to his face, which led to the impairment of his vision in his left eye.
In 2009 and 2011, O'Haire was arrested and slapped with charges of battery.
Following his death, the WWE released a statement regarding his death.
"WWE extends its condolences to Sean Christopher Haire's family, friends and fans on his passing. Haire performed under the name 'Sean O'Haire,' and was under contract with WWE from 2001 to 2004," the statement said.
