Intel is set to work hand in hand with famous watch manufacturer Fossil Group in making more fashionable wearables, Tech Times has learned.

The two companies are said to combine their technological knowledge and expertise in developing fashionable techie devices that can be worn.

The confirmed partnership between the two comes just after Intel's unveiling of its My Intelligent Communication Accessory (MICA) luxury smart bracelet at IFA 2014.

Interestingly, MICA - bejweled wearables that target women - is set to debut at the upcoming New York Fashion Week.

Fashion house Opening Ceremony worked in collaboration with Intel in designing MICA, which is going to be on sale through retail company Barneys New York.

Apart from designing smart accessories and gadgets, Fossil will also work with Intel Capital - Intel's investment firm - to examine and plot wearable trends and specify profitable co-investments, according to China Topix.

As of late, Intel Capital has invested in wearable technology startup companies like Thalmic Labs, which is known for its armbands that can be used in operating computer devices through hand gestures, and Basis, the maker of fitness bands that the company acquired just this March.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said that the company has opted to partner with another reptutable company in its move to expand into the booming market of wearables rather than jumping in alone.

As for the reason why Intel has suddenly decided to join the wearables bandwagon, the company cited MarketsandMarkets' study last year that the global wearable technology market is expected to reach revenues of over $8 billion by 2018.

This isn't the first time that Intel has engaged into collaborative work. The tech company has announded last month that it is to partner with SMS Audio - a company founded by rapper 50 Cent - in developing BioSport biometric earbuds, reported Uber Gizmo.
