Benedict Cumberbatch is still charming even when drunk.

The 38-year-old British actor admitted that he'd had more than a few drinks before he took to the podium to pick up his Actor of the Year trophy at the GQ Men of the Year awards ceremony at London's Royal Opera House Tuesday, Sept. 2, The Mirror reported.

Though acceptance speeches often lead to embarrassment when combined with some alcohol, that was not the case for the "Sherlock" actor, whose tispy mess was still charming, according to New Zealand Herald.

"I'd like to thank James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy for not being available," Cumberbatch told the crowd. "It's an embarrassment of riches, our profession is in general really."

"I'm in one of those extraordinary rooms with extraordinary people," the actor continued. "Thank you mum and dad for rearing me. Wait, what century am I in? Auditioning for 'Downton Abbey' or some such s**t. Not that 'Downton Abbey's' s**t."

"Where was I? Oh f**k. I'm going to get off stage now ... I drank a lot and I need the loo. So thank you very good much, I'll see you in the loo," he said closing his short speech.

Before the ceremony started, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" actor revealed in a red carpet interview with ODE, that if he would have the opportunity to give a GQ award to any male personality of his own choice, then he would present such accolade to the late labor politician Tony Benn and to departed actors Robin Williams and Richard Attenborough.

"We've lost great men this year. So I'd award it to those three," the actor explained.

Aside from Cumberbatch, Peter Capaldi and Jamie Dornan also took home awards from the GQ bash.

The 56-year-old "Doctor Who" actor picked up the TV Personality of the Year, saying: "This is the first I've received for my personality, which I assume means they've never met me," according to Radio Times.

Meanwhile, Dornan, who plays Christian Grey in the upcoming film "Fifty Shades of Grey," was given the Best Breakthrough Act award.
