CeeLo Green might as well sing "Forget You" to his upcoming reality series after TBS announced that the former "The Voice" judge's show was cancelled.
Following his controversial tweets about rape, TBS and Time Warner have agreed to cancel Green's show "The Good Life" on Tuesday, Sept. 2, Us Weekly has learned.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to confirm and break the news that the unscripted series of Green (born Thomas DeCarlo Callaway) was canned after his controversial statements on the nature of rape surfaced on social media.
"If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously!" the 40-year-old singer initially tweeted. "So WITH implies consent... when someone brakes on a home there is broken glass where is your plausible proof anyone was raped... women who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"
He then followed it up with: "so if I TRIED but did NOT succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?"
Before CeeLo Green could even delete his posts hours later, many already lashed out against him for his words, even prompting an online petition from UltraViolet, a women's rights group.
"No matter how famous you are, rape is never ok," Co-Founder of UltraViolet, Shaunna Thomas said in a statement.
The campaign, which received over 3,000 signatures in less than three hours, successfully convinced TBS and its umbrella company Time Warner to cancel the "Fool For You" hit maker's reality series.
"CeeLo Green publicized views that rape isn't rape if a woman doesn't remember--a false and dangerous claim. We urge CeeLo Green, Time Warner, and TBS to take this moment to donate to an organization helping survivors of rape, and are looking into whether any next steps are appropriate," Thomas added.
On Monday, Sept. 1, Green took to Twitter to apologize for his controversial rape tweets.
"Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context..." Green wrote, according to Billboard.
"I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it... was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you," he added.
It can be noted that on Friday, CeeLo Green pleaded no contest to charges for furnishing ecstasy to a woman without her consent back in 2012.
The rape claim of the woman was then thrown out and the singer was sentenced to three years of formal probation and 45 days of community service, reported Metro.
An update to the story says Green has officially deleted his Tweeter account after his apology. However, he and his rep are yet to comment on the issue as of late.
