Comedian Billy Crystal will be leading the special tribute dedicated to the late Robin Williams at this year's Emmy Awards.
Don Mischer, Emmys producer released a statement and said, "We felt we needed to do something powerful and memorable. Billy seemed like the perfect choice," E! News reported.
Last week, Mischer released a statement confirming their plans to pay respects to the late "Patch Adams" actor, according to Star Pulse.
"Plans for the Memoriam segment are in discussion. While we are still coming to terms with this week's tragic news, we are working to give Robin Williams the proper and meaningful remembrance he so well deserves," he said.
Monday night's memorial segment will also include a touching performance from Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles, My Sun Coast noted.
Crystal and Williams have been friends for years. Both actors starred in the movie "Father's Day" back in 1997. They have also partnered in several "Comic Relief" specials alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Expose noted.
On August 11, Williams passed away due to an apparent suicide attempt. Later on, reports claimed that the actor, who was severely depressed at the time of his death, also suffered early stages of Parkinson's.
Following his death, Crystal expressed his sorrow via Twitter by simply writing, "No words."
On August 12, Williams' ashes were scattered in the San Francisco bay off the coast of Marin County, the same publication noted.
"We were relaxed, and all of a sudden he comes up on stage and you know what it is --- like nothing we had ever seen before, nothing we had ever imagined before. We were like morning dew and he comes in like a hurricane. And the longer he's on stage, the worse we feel about ourselves..."
