Nick Young is here to protect his girl! After Nicki Minaj took a dig at Iggy Azalea during her BET Awards speech, Young comforted his girlfriend while the news circulated the internet and social media. He was asked about the incident at the Body at ESPYs party, and what he said might shock you!

"Iggy is doing big things and that is what is scaring people," the Laker explained. "She is going to brush it off. She won't let it get to her. She is number one - what can you do? She's at the top right now, so of course they are going to come at you."

Afterwards, "I had to deal with the aftermath of all that," Young said. "When she came home and was going through her phones, hearing everybody talking trash about her. I had to be there for her."

To jog your memory, Minaj said the night of the awards, "What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," leaving many to speculate the hip-hop queen was throwing shade at Azalea.

Both stars addressed the alleged feud on their social media accounts, stating there was no bad blood.

"I have to say the general explosion of pettiness online in the last few days is hard to ignore and honestly... lame," the "Problem" songstress wrote on Instagram.

"If I had won the BET award that would've been great but it wasn't my year and I don't mind - so you shouldn't either.Generally speaking I'm unbothered by anything that 'happened' at the BET awards and just feel worn out by everyone trying to make me have wars with people all the time."

She continued, "Anyone who wishes me well is welcome in my life and those who don't care can't get any more of my time. I hate to see everyone exhausting themselves on my behalf over things that I'm still not 100% sure even exist and don't matter. Just let it go."

Minaj took to Twitter, writing, "The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us!"

"I believe we're smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I've been saying this for 5 YEARS."

She then added, "I've congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud."

Young also explained he helps his girl cope with the pressures of fame.

"We always hang out and try to get her mind off what is going on out there on the news," the NBA star said. "We go roller-skating, to theme parks and Six Flags and try to have a good time and do down-to-earth stuff. We have sweats on, hoodies on at Six Flags, just us two, and you will never know (who we are)."
