Amy Poehler Opens Up About End Of Her Marriage To Will Arnett In Memoir 'Yes Please'; 'Parks And Recreation' Star Talks New Boyfriend Nick Kroll

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett announced that they were ending their nine-year marriage in September 2012, according to E! News. And for the first time, the 43-year-old "Parks and Recreation" star is breaking her silence on their split in her upcoming memoir "Yes Please."

"Imagine spreading everything you care about on a blanket and then tossing the whole thing up in the air," Poehler wrote in an excerpt obtained by Hello! magazine. "The process of divorce is about loading that blanket, throwing it up, watching it all spin, and worrying what stuff will break when it lands."

"When you are a person going through a divorce you feel incredibly alone, yet you are constantly reminded by society of how frequently divorce happens and how common it has become," the "Saturday Night Live" alum added. "You aren't allowed to feel special, but no one knows the specific ways you are in pain."

The Golden Globe-winning actress did not reveal the specifics about their breakup in her book, writing that the reasons behind the split are "too sad" and "too personal" to talk about.

Despite their split, Poehler has only good things to say about the 44-year-old "The Millers" actor, with whom she shares two sons: Archie, nearly 6, and Abel, 4.

"I am proud of how my ex-husband Will and I have been taking care of our children," she added. "I am beyond grateful he is their father, and I don't think a ten-year marriage constitutes failure."

But she still concluded that "getting a divorce really sucks."

Poehler also talked about his new beau Nick Kroll in her memoir.

"I have a boyfriend who knows how to settle me," she wrote. "He puts his hand on my chest and tells me boring stories."

She continued: "On one of our first nights together I woke up apologizing for my snoring and he pulled out two earplugs he had worn to bed so he could hear what I was saying. It was one of the most romantic gestures I have ever seen."

Arnett filed for divorce from Poehler in April this year, 19 months after they announced their separation, Us Weekly noted.

"Yes Please" will hit the bookstores on Oct. 28.
