Is Hilary Duff A Scientologist Now?

Close

It appears that Hilary Duff may be taking the spiritual route to cope with marriage woes. New reports claim the former Disney star is hanging with the young Scientology crowd!

The "Why Not" singer has been sporting a temporary tattoo with scientology symbols. She was recently spotted at Coachella with pal Alana Masterson, a big supporter of the religion.

"When I was younger, we were very much churchgoers. Now that things have gotten a little bit busier and I have gotten a little bit older, I don't necessarily think that you have to go to church to be a believer. I travel so much and I work so hard, but I have faith in that kind of thing and I pray all the time and I believe in God," Duff explained on searching for spiritual connection.

Her tattoo features a small triangle, a major Scientology symbol, alongside a rendition of their cross.

Masterson, whose brothers are Danny and Chris, created the "Objectives" course in 2003. Radar Online reports she has completed various other courses over the years, including the "Seamanship" course.

Her father Joe Reaiche has left the church and expresses concerns for his daughter's involvement.

"I paid for my kids to go to private Scientology school but it's a total fraud," he said. "Recently Alanna gave them $25,000 because they told her they could give her superpowers. That's on top of the normal 50 to 100 grand a year she pays in fees."

Duff also attended the Children Mending Hearts event hosted by Kelly Preston, a proud Scientologist. The "Younger" actress also claims her first crush was Preston's husband and fellow practitioner John Travolta.
