Drop Top Design by Diego Blengino has been awarded with the noted Golden A’ Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories Design Category by A’ Award and Competitions, according to a press release.

Talking about the winning design, creator Diego Blengino said, “A bag that can be zipped apart (and back): This is a modular and reconfigurable bag inspired by the "Sub" textile, which is normally used for cars covers, Drop Top became the distinctive symbol of the new line of UrbanikaB brand with its flexible pieces, that can be connected with each other through zippers. The use of intelligent materials and an accurate technical craft, which is typical of the made in Italy, create products, which lead the new trends.”

Blengino started the project Drop Top Design in March 2011 in Torino, and based it on the issues of optimizing space and arousing the curiosity of buyers. It allows the customers to style their own bag.

The Golden A’ Design award is given to the top three percentile of designs that have an exceptional greatness in design. The jury’s decision is based on the design’s ergonomics, engineering, presentation, innovation, usability, fun details, and technology.

The A’ Design Award and Competitions are awarded annually and highlight the best designs, design concepts and design-oriented products.

In the same category, the Platinum A’ Design Award was given to Project Orishiki Hand Bag by Naoki Kawamoto. The inimitable clutch bag takes its inspiration from the Japanese paper folding art and the traditional technique of wrapping cloth. Due to the use of magnets, the clutch bag starts to close as soon as it is folded.

A’ Design Award for Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Category was awarded to Project Gemel by Katherine Alexandra Brunacci. Brunacci’s creation, Gemel has a lightweight property and can be worn as jewelry or be used in earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings.
