Amid the success of his horror anthology, "American Horror Story," renowned television director-producer Ryan Murphy is bringing another interesting show titled "American Crime Story" to the small screen.

On Tuesday, Murphy announced that he has cast Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. and AHS actress Sarah Paulson to play the lead roles for the upcoming 10-episode miniseries, Us Weekly has learned.

The first instalment of the true crime anthology is subtitled "The People v. O.J. Simpson," and Gooding is said to portray titular role and controversial football player O.J. Simpson, alongside Paulson's Marcia Clark, the prosecutor in the 1995 murder case of the former.

"[The show] is a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense willingness, and the LAPD's history with the city's African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt," read the press release of the freshman run of Murphy's new TV offering.

The miniseries is roughly based on the book "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson," according to Deadline. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are to write the script for the first two hours while Murphy is to helm the first episode of the FXP an Fox 21 Television Studios anthology.

Just like its sister show, "American Crime Story" will also start a clean slate every season, focusing on well-known true crime stories.

Apart from Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and Brad Falchuck are to executive produce the FX series. While Simpson is known for "The Hunger Games" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," Falchuck is known as the co-creator of "American Horror Story" and "Glee" with Murphy, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Production is set to begin early 2015 in Los Angeles.
