OK, another social media trend is making it's way from one smartphone to another. Get ready ladies...
The Internet has been buzzing about the "finger-trap test." Have you heard of this one yet?
It's the latest "beauty trend" that's gaining momentum among both men and women on China's Weibo social media service.
Also known as the "Beauty And Ugliness Identification Method," this so-called test tells you to touch your index finger to the tip of your nose and rest your hand against your chin.
If your lips don't touch your finger you have "passed the test" and are considered "pretty" by this test's standards.
So is the test actually myth of fact? We asked Dr. David Cangello, Director of Plastic Surgery at the renowned JUVA Skin & Laser Center of New York what he thought.
"This trend uses a very crude method of determining facial proportions," Dr. Cangello said. "However this test does borrow from real measurements of facial balance that plastic surgeons do use in determining whether a person may be a good candidate for a plastic surgical procedure of the chin and/or nose."
"If your lips don't touch your finger then you may have a chin with good projection that balances with your nose," says Dr. Cangello.
"Of course there are many other factors that go into making this aesthetic judgment, but in some cases it may indicate a weak chin or an over projecting nose on profile."
"In these cases a patient may benefit from a chin implant and/or a rhinoplasty. But certainly, in no way does it determine someone's attractiveness."
