James Cameron saw monstrous success with "Avatar," which became the highest grossing film in Hollywood and spawned three 3D sequels. Camereon and Cirque du Soleil CEO Daniel Lamarre announced a live "Avatar" collaboration. Amazing!

The news broke Thursday at the international business C2MTL- Commerce + Creativity Conference. The live production is set to debut in late 2015. Financier and distributor Twentieth Century Fox and Jon Landau's Lightstorm Entertainment are partners on the project.

"Cirque du Soleil" is described as "dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment."

"Avatar remains a phenomenon that continues to inspire people around the globe, and combining it with the live event ingenuity of Cirque de Soleil is a perfect synthesis of imagination and talent," 20th Century Fox's chief Jim Gianopulos said in a statement.

"Avatar" grossed $2.7 billion in 2009, knocking Cameron's "Titanic" out of the top spot for highest grossing film of all time. He is currently working in pre-production on the first sequel.

"Over the years, I have discovered the extraordinary talents and imaginations of both the artists and the creative forces behind Cirque du Soleil," Cameron said. "I know we share the common goal of bringing audiences to another level of entertainment experiences. I look forward to doing just that on this project."

Lamarre has nothing but praise for Cameron and is thrilled to join forces in the "Avatar" cirque du soleil.

"Our relationship with Jim Cameron began with my visit at his 'Avatar' cutting room," he stated. "I am thrilled that almost 5 years later, Cirque du Soleil will be able to explore the very inspirational 'Avatar' realm for the live stage. This will mark our second creative project with Jim and I believe it will be as stimulating for both our creative forces."
