It looks like Zac Efron has no regrets on talking about his addiction during a chat with The Hollywood Reporter.
According to E! News, during an appearance on NBC's "Today" show on Monday, the 26-year-old spoke to Matt Lauer about the relief he feels now that his darkest secret is officially out.
He told the anchor, "Actually, it was a weight off my chest. It was great. It was a fantastic time. It was a rough year," adding, "It's kind of funny: 'Neighbors' is such a great icing on the cake for all of this.
"I was able to kind of channel all of that and put it back into this movie. I feel great. I feel really blessed to be here working with this group of group of guys. I couldn't be better right now. I'm really excited."
Efron's costar Dave Franco confessed that he is actually thrilled to see the Disney alumni branching out and exploring his talent.
James Franco's little brother explained, "I'm really excited for Zac because I know a lot of people have this preconception of who he is, and once you see this movie, I think his teenybopper image is going to be completely shattered."
He continued, "All these new projects that wouldn't have come to him otherwise are just going to flood towards him."
Despite his past troubled that actor has remained seemingly optimistic about his future and is more than ready to take on new roles showing audiences that he is more than the typical Disney Channel star.
During his interview with THR Zac Efron admitted that he has recently joined Alcoholics Anonymous and has also been seeing a therapist.
The "That Awkward Moment" stat explained, "I just started going," adding, "And I think it's changed my life. I'm much more comfortable in my own skin. Things are so much easier now."
"Without those moments where you feel like your lowest, it's impossible to appreciate the high ones."
Zac Efron went on to say, "But I sit here in front of you today much happier and healthier than I've probably ever been."
