Why don't we just address the elephant in the room and admit that Sunday night's "Game of Thrones" season 4 episode was truly disturbing.

According to E! News, in episode 3, Breaker of Chains" following the death of King Joffrey's (Jack Gleeson) death at the Purple Wedding, Cersei (Lena Heady) was a devastated.

While she was mourning her spawn and looking over his body her brother who happens to be the father of her son, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) approached the grieving mother and started to make love to his sister all while Joffrey's corpse was less than a foot away.

However, the scene was very different from the book. The novel depicts the couple having consensual sex but on the HBO series, Jaime forced himself upon Cersei despite her plea to make him stop.

Cersei cries, "It's not right."

To which Jamie says, "I don't care."

The show;s director Alex Graves told The Hollywood Reporter that although he is "never that excited about going to film forced sex," his mission was to make the rape scene a truly unforgettable moment in the series' history.

He went on to say, "But the whole thing for me was about dead Joffrey lying there, watching the whole thing," adding, "(Showrunners) David (Benioff) and Dan (Weiss) loved that, and I was like, I wanted to make sure I had Jack in there as much as I could."

Graves revealed why it was especially important to have Joffrey's cold corpse so close to  his parents as they got it on.

He explained, "He is their first born. He is their sin. He is their lust, and their love-their everything. If he's gone, what's going to happen?"

Graves went on to say, "Jaime is still trying to believe as hard as he possibly can that he's in love with Cersei.

"He can't admit that he is traumatized by his family and he's been forced his whole life to be something he doesn't want to be. What he is-but has to deny-is he is actually the good knight, like Brienne."

Even though the scene was difficult to watch the director admitted it was even harder to film as Heady and Coster-Waldau continuously burst in a fit of giggles every time Graves would give them directorial corrections.

Alex Graves admitted, "I wanted to make sure I had Jack in there as much as I could. Of course Lena and Nickolaj laughed every time I would say, 'You grab her by the hair, and Jack is right there,' or 'You come around this way, and Jack is right there.'"

"Game of Thrones" season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
