We love giving tips on how to get a whiter smile. Whether you use lipstick to make teeth whiter, or follow the instructions of our expert dentists, there's always a way to make those pearly whites brighter. This newest way, however, threw us for a bit of a loop at first!

We're not sure how to call this one yet, but Crest, an oral hygiene brand from consumer goods company Procter & Gamble, is launching a new range of unusually flavored toothpastes.

"Got an adventurous spirit or a sweet tooth?" asks Crest cleverly in a release about the product. "Well, then this is the toothpaste for you. Now consumers can explore outside their boundaries, arouse their senses and energize their brushing routine like never before."

Known as Crest Be, the range offers three weird and wonderful choices of toothpaste flavors: lime spearmint, vanilla mint, and mint chocolate!

While these flavors are an initial shock to the system when you first hear about them, we must say it's about time there was more flavor variety in the dental care aisle! The chocolate flavored pasted is said to "open with a rich, creamy cocoa flavor that provides an indulgent and decadent experience."

"You don't expect to find chocolate toothpaste in the aisle. It's something beyond the everyday sea of mint," said John Scarchilli, head of Scientific Communications for Proctor & Gamble.

Scarchilli said the idea for the product actually came from customers who told Crest they found toothpaste kind of boring and wanted to be surprised with a little fun, if only for a minute or two in the morning when brushing.

Although deviating from the traditional taste, the toothpastes retain the cleaning properties of the brands less bizarre testing versions, including cavity protection and tooth whitening.

"Crest Be was developed out of the research and insights that consumers are looking for experiential purchases," P&G announced in a statement. "The new toothpastes not only provide the foundational benefits needed for oral health but allow for an unexpected experience through flavors that offer personal expression."

Coming up with the right flavor was a challenge. "It was difficult to make something chocolate lovers could love," Scarchilli said. "We actually use a proprietary flavoring-and-cooling technology that delays the onset of the mint, to let the chocolate make the first impression. Holding back the mint long enough -- 30 to 40 seconds -- lets the chocolate be decadent and satisfying."

With all the buzz, we're ready to try this for ourselves! How about you? Let us know with a note!
