Nicole Richie has made quite a transformation since her days as a Hollywood wild child but it seems that people just can't seem to let go of her simple life days. The mother of two posed on the cover of Marie Claire Mexico and talked about her reality series.
The 32-year-old costarred alongside her best friend at the time Paris Hilton in the reality show "The Simple Life," where the two rich girls lived like the average American rather than in their posh Beverly Hills lifestyle.
According to E! News, Joel Madden's wife spoke about her experience. She explained, "I had already traveled a lot around my country and abroad, but I had never experienced America quite like when we were doing the show."
She continued, "Before that, my whole world was between Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Alabama and Atlanta, where my parents come from, and I was also familiar with some of the southern ways and customs, but being in the central states was something completely new to us.
"Traveling is essential because it helps you grow. Learning about different cultures and beliefs is a wonderful process."
The House of Harlow designer recalled the lack of privacy during the reality series. She admitted, "We were filmed 24/7: in the bedroom, in the car, in the living room."
She quipped, "That was the most interesting part about 'The Simple Life,' because it was intended to show what we were experiencing in the most truthful way. This changed later on, but at the beginning it was reality at its finest."
Even though Richie and Hilton have publicly had a rift in their friendship the designer admitted that the famous blonde is still in her life.
She explained, "Paris has been part of my life since I was 2 years old," adding, "There's a strong friendship between our families and we'll always know each other."
Nicole Richie has since left the days of rehab stints behind her and is now consumed by her 6-year-old daughter Harlow, 4-year-old son Sparrow and husband Joel Madden.
She confessed, "Motherhood makes you way more conscious of how you distribute your spare time," adding, "Kids are so precious that your priorities change completely."
Although she admits it is hard being a parent and having a career she insists she has an amazing support system.
She revealed, "I'm like any other working mother trying to make things work and dealing with this situation one day at a time.
"I have an amazing family and they've all been very supportive, my parents live only ten minutes away and my husband and his twin brother help me when I need it."
