It looks like the new trailer for "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" has arrived minus James Franco. The film that that is the sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" picks up the plot fifteen years later with new human characters but one very familiar ape.
According to the Los Angeles Times, in the new teaser clip we see apes and humans appear to be on the cusp of a war after mankind has already been shattered by the genius animals.
The new promo clip hints at a world that has been destroyed by disease since the simian followers have been under the rule of the genetically evolved ape Caesar who found his "home" in the forest.
As we get glimpses into this failing world we hear a speech that calls for change among the human survivors.
The motivator states, "We've been through hell together. We spent four years - four years - fighting that virus and another four fighting each other. It was chaos. But you all know what we're up against.
"And I want you to know, it's not just about power, it's about giving us the hope to rebuild, to reclaim the world that we lost."
Joining the film will be a new cast consisting of the likes of Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman and Keri Russell.
At one point in the trailer Clarke's Malcolm finds himself in the forest yelling, "I need to speak to Caesar."
We then see the camera slowly focusing on the ape with his bold green eyes and lightened face. After holding a steady position in from of the army of his army the leader signals his hand as if he wants the species to attack.
Of course we don't get to see whether the animal leap into a brutal attack as the trailer cuts to black and informs us that we must wait until July to see more.
The Matt Reeves directed "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" movie is set to hit theaters July 11, 2014.
