J. Cole is engaged! The "Crooked Smile" rapper reportedly proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Melissa Heholt, who he met in college more than nine years ago.

According to Hollywood Life, the 28-year-old Roc Nation lyricist popped the big question on Tuesday.

The "Power Trip" performer, whose real name is Jermaine Cole, is still very much in love with his college sweetheart. The two met in 2003 at St. John University, while he was studying to get his Communications degree.

An insider told MediaTakeOut that J. Cole had plans to tie the knot. But no word on when the nupitals will happen, but it looks like the rapper won't be able to walkd down the aisle before the year is out.

Jay Z protege is currently in the middle of his "What Dreams May Come" tour, and is set to hit the stage on Dec. 11 in Dublin, Ireland, reported HL.

Usually, the couple keep their relationship under the radar. But J.Cole had been vocal about marriage and relationships in the past.

"I feel like relationships are a beautiful thing, period," said the rapper to HipHopCanada in October. "Relationships can be really beautiful, they can be really hard, they can be really rewarding, or they can be bad relationships where it's really detrimental and hurtful, but that's life, period."

The lyricist has many thoughts about love that he wasn't afraid to share.

"But then marriage, marriage is just a relationship to me," added J. Cole. "In my experience, when you've been in a relationship for as long as I've been in one, there's no real difference. It's just a piece of paper that validates what was already real. In marriage you got to go through the same struggles as a relationship, that's if the relationship is real, because there's a lot of non-real relationships going on in the world right now. And I think that's just because of the day and age we're in, a lot of these relationships are taking place over text messages, it's not real substance. But when you got a real one, it's already like a marriage."
