'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Sales, Box Office 2013: Jennifer Lawrence's Movie Sets New Thanksgiving Record, Edges Out 'Frozen' Film for Top Spot in Theaters

"Hunger Games: Catching Fire" set a new box office sales record over the Thanksgiving 2013 weekend! Jennifer Lawrence's movie edged out Disney's animated film, "Frozen" for the top spot in theaters.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the film pulled in $110.1 million from Wednesday to Sunday.

A total of $74.5 million was earned during the weekend. The highly popular sequel has now reached a stunning $296.5 million in domestic sales after only 10 days.

At this point, the film, also starring Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and Jena Malone, has already pulled in a total of $573 million worldwide, reported EW.

The record-breaking movie has made an impression on several thousands, surpassing "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which grossed $57.5 million/$82.4 million in 2001.

The $130 million sequel to "The Hunger Games" may just easily outgross the franchise's first film, which made $408 million domestic total.

According to the Huffington Post, the second film opened No. 1 in France, Italy and Belgium.

Rounding out the top five movies over the holiday weekend are "Thor: The Dark World" with $15.5 million, "The Best Man Holiday" with $11.1 and "Homefront" with $9.8.
