Despite her life being surrounded by hot costars like Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence still remembers the days when she suffered from anxiety and struggled to lead a normal life even though she wasn't in the spotlight.

According to Us Weekly, in a new interview with French magazine Madame Figaro, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" actress opened up about her childhood struggle with social anxiety.

She revealed, "My nickname was 'Nitro,' as in nitroglycerin," adding, "I was hyperactive, curious about everything. When my mother told me about my childhood, she always told me there was like a light in me, a spark that inspired me constantly.

"When I entered school, the light went out. We never knew what it was, a kind of social anxiety. But I had friends."

Although it didn't help the actress did seek help fro a therapist. She explained, "I went to see a shrink," adding "Nothing worked."

But soon Jennifer Lawrence discovered acting. She told the magazine, "One day, I begged my parents to take me to a casting."

She added, "We went to New York, and that's where I started acting. Just on stage, my mother saw the change that was taking place in me. She saw my anxieties disappear. She found her daughter, the one who had this light and joy before school."

The 23-year-old admitted, "I finally found a way [to] open the door to a universe that I understood, that was good for me and made me happy, because I felt capable, whereas before I felt worthless."

However, one thing that isn't normal is to have men fighting for your affection, which is something her character, Katniss Everdeen has to deal with in her upcoming "Hunger Games" film.

According to the New York Daily News, Josh Hutcherson revealed that Lawrence's character has a difficult choice to make. He said, "I don't necessarily think that 'Team Peeta' is the right choice."

He went on to say, "I feel like Peeta has the more kind of sensitive, artistic listener side. And Gale is more protector/provider/caretaker type. If I were Katniss, I don't know who I would choose."

However, Liam Hemsworth said that his character just wants Katniss to be happy. He explained, "What Gale knows is - as hard as it is to watch someone he cares deeply about fall in love with someone else - he really does care about her.

"All Peeta is trying to do is protect her and keep her alive and that's all Gale wants as well."
