In a new interview with Katie Couric, Orlando Bloom discussed his recent split from supermodel wife Miranda Kerr. The stars who are parents to 2-year-old son Flynn decided to separate after six years of being together.
According to Hollywood Life, the "Romeo and Juliet" star opened up about his separation from the Victoria's Secret angel in an interview with the journalist that will air on November 1st. The actor said, "We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives."
Unlike most Hollywood celebrities who have bitter splits that result in them despising their significant other, Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom are being civil with one another and the actor has a healthy, positive outlook on his split from his wife.
Bloom told Couric that one of the reasons that he and Kerr will live blissfully and be there for one another is mainly because of their little guy Flynn. He said, "We love each other, we're a family."
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star explained, "We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives. There's no question for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn."
"And you know," he added, "life doesn't always works out exactly as we plan or hope for but fortunately we're both... we're adults. We love and care about each other and we, most of all, love our son."
Miranda Kerr, 30, and Orlando Bloom, 36, announced that they separated on October 24th after three years of marriage.
The couple's rep confirmed their split to E! It read, "In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation.
"Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family."
On October 25th Orlando Bloom told TMZ, "We're not friends, we're a family."
Since the split was announced the two have been seen around New York City walking arm and arm and even giving each other friendly kisses along with their son Flynn.
