Lee Thompson Young has died at the age of 29. The "Rizzoli & Isles" and "The Famous Jett Jackson" star reportedly committed suicide before his landlord discovered him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his Los Angles home on Monday morning.

According to TMZ, Young's publicist confirmed that the actor did take his own life on Monday afternoon.

"It is with great sadness that I announced that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning...Lee was more than just a brilliant actor, he was wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed."

TMZ reported that he actor's co-workers were concerned after the former Disney star didn't show up for work on Monday morning. The staffers called his Young's landlord to check up on him.

Police also reported to his home, where the actor was found dead, according to USA Today.

Young was a child actor-turned-superstar. He first made it big on "The Famous Jett Jackson," playing the title role on the late 90s Disney kids series.

He went on to play running back Chris Comer in 2004's "Friday Night Lights," and also appeared on TV in "The Guardian," "South Beach," "Scrubs" and "Smallville."

Most recently, Young played Boston detective Barry Frost on TNT's cop drama, "Rizzoli & Isles." 

The cable drama's creator, Janet Tamaro took to Twitter to express her sadness over Young's untimely death.

"We are all without words to express our collective grief and profound sadness at the loss of such a sweet, bright light," she posted. "We are broken-hearted #RIPLeeThompsonYoung."
