Reports surfaced earlier today that Laura Prepon of "Orange is the New Black" will be departing the Netflix show, but it is unclear whether this is true.

Buzzfeed cited sources close to the team of "Orange is the New Black" that said that Prepon would not be a regular in the second season of the show.  She may return for just a few episodes to tie up any loose ends of her character, Alex Vause, the lesbian inmate and ex of the main character Piper Kerman.

Prepon, 33, has not signed a contract for season 2, according to International Business Times.  Neither the actress nor her representatives have confirmed or denied the news.  However, a representative for Netflix gave a vague answer.

"It's not accurate," a Netflix representative said.  "Our season is still developing and nothing is confirmed."

"Orange is the New Black," is bases on Piper Kerman's memoir by the same name.  In the series, Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling, is sent to prison for 15 months for smuggling drug money for Vause, her then lesbian lover.  Chapman shows up to prison only to realize Vause is also serving time there.

"When I first read this script, I thought, this was so awesome and different," Prepon said to NJ.com in an interview. "Jenji (Kohan) is such an amazing writer. My character is so cool. It's amazing to portray her."

The second season of "Orange is the New Black" is set to air in 2014, with or without Prepon.
