Ashley Tisdale is engaged to boyfriend Christopher French. The "High School Musical" star's rocker boyfriend friend proposed to the actress on top of the Empire State Building in New York City on Thursday night.

The 28-year old took to "Twitter" to share her excitement with her more than ten million followers hours later.

She wrote, "Best night of my life. We're on top of the world."

Us Weekly confirmed Tisdale's engagement to French, which took place on the 103rd floor of the Empire State building on August 8th.

"He had been planning on it for awhile. I think she knew it was coming but she is so happy," a source said about the engagement.

The couple went public back in December 2012 when they were spotted in an Apple store in Los Angeles, "She likes those rocker types," a source told the magazine at the time.

"They have mutual friends and just met through hanging out."

On Friday, Ashley Tisdale and Christopher French were spotted for the first time since the news broke about the engagement. Although she was sure to hide her rock, cameras did catch photos of two rings on her ring finger.

One ring featured an all diamond band, while the other was a plain band that was most likely turned around so photographers couldn't shoot it.

The couple was out shopping in the Manhattan neighborhood of Soho where the actress picked up some things from a denim store.

This will be the first marriage for both Ashley Tisdale and Christopher French.
