That tweet has been favorited nearly 75,000 times, indicating his fans support his recent new endeavor.

The club's website issued a statement noting, "Louis has always been passionate about football and wanted to realize a dream of signing for his home town club where he once worked on match days."

It will be interesting to see how much Tomlinson will actually be playing the field, considering One Direction's big plans for the next year.  A worldwide stadium tour is in the works, as well as the theatrical release of One Direction's "This is Us" film.  Additionally, there is the upcoming launch of the band's new line of makeup for women.
