It seems like Katy Perry is doing her best to stay out of Kristen Stewart's and Robert Pattinson's break up. Since the split the "Firework" singer has been spotted around Hollywood with the "Twilight" hunk.

However, Perry recently got back together with former flame John Mayer and a British accent is the furthest thing from her mind.

The 28-year old singer told the September issue of ELLE UK that she never intended to come off as a backstabber when it came to hanging out with Pattinson post-split.

She told the magazine, "I sent her a text message saying: 'I know you've seen all this stuff but you know I would never disrespect you. I'm not that person.'"

"'I'm just trying to be a friend to him but it is unfortunate that I do have a set of tits,'" the singer explained about her effort to clear things up with Kristen Stewart.

Pattinson, 27, and Perry have been close friends for a long time with the "Cosmopolis" actor even helping the singer through her divorce from Russell Brand in back in 2012.

A source told Us Weekly that Pattinson supported Perry and kept in touch with her through calls and text messages. "He's just checking in on her," the insider revealed to the magazine.

"It's not romantic at all. They're friends." Perry returned the favor when Pattinson dumped "On the Road" star Kristen Stewart, 23, after he couldn't move on from the star's affair with her married "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders.

After four years the actor finally called time on his relationship in May, a year after the starlet's cheating scandal was revealed.

Meanwhile Pattinson's good pal Perry has been in an on-again, off-again romance with John Mayer since her divorce from Brand was finalized.

Back in March the couple called it quits on the romance but got back together in June, "He pulled away. That was a big hello for me," Perry explained about the break up.

"I realized I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things, issues I think a lot of women have. You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another."

"In relationships, it was hard for me to speak up and set boundaries."
