On Monday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed a baby boy into the world. With the announcement of the birth of the royal baby the world has gone into a frenzy wanting to know more details about the royal birth.
After nearly 10 and a-half-hours of labor the Duchess delivered a baby boy on Monday July 22nd at 4:24p.m.
According to E! News the official birth announcement confirmed that the royal baby was delivered and in great health. It read, "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 p.m. The baby weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
Although the new parents have yet to release their son's name his official title will be HRH Prince of Cambridge, a title that has not been used in over 190 years, according to the celebrity news site.
Earlier this year coincidently on the Duchess' birthday the Queen of England made a Letter Patent that gave the newborn their chance at title regardless of gender.
The letter stated, "All the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales should enjoy the style, title and attribute of Royal Highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their Christian names."
The royal couple released a statement thanking the staff of St. Mary's Hospital "for the tremendous care the three of us have received," adding, "We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone-staff, patients and visitors-for their understanding during this time."
E! News reported that Prince William stayed right by his wife's side throughout the birthing process and even spent the night with her in her private suite in the hospital's Lindo Wing.
In honor of the royal baby's birth there is a 62-gun salute planned at the Tower of London scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, along with a 41-gun salute in London's Green Park at the same time.
