Chris Hemsworth goes shirtless in the new trailer for his forthcoming racing film, "Rush."

According to JustJared, the actor takes it off for the highly-anticipated film arriving in theaters on Sept. 27. Also starring Olivia Wilde, the biopic tells the story of Formula 1 champion driver Nik Lauda, and the 1976 crash that almost took his life.

Lauda is played by Daniel Bruhl, whose character challenged the Hemsworth-played James Hunt to a race just a few weeks after that nearly fatal accident.

Ron Howard, known for "Arrested Development" and 2001's "A Beautiful Mind" directed the action and drama biography, according to IMDB. Peter Morgan, who was nominated for two Oscars and is best known for 2010's Hereafter and 2006's "The Queen," wrote the screenplay.

The 1970s story pits Hemsworth's character as an English playboy against his methodical opponent Lauda, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The director had a lot to say about his upcoming big screen effort.

"People ask what has 'Rush' been like and I say, from a filmmaking standpoint, it's been kind of a cross between "Apollo 13" and "Backdraft," Howard said to EW. "In the case of "Apollo 13," that's for the complexity and the authenticity and the intent to capture an era and an endeavor that blends technology, action and danger."
