Following their split fans have been worried how Nina Dobrev's and Ian Somerhalder's break up would affect their on-screen chemistry and hit series "The Vampire Diaries."

Now, Fans are delighted to know that the cast is back on set filming season 5 of the show, but the real question everyone wants to know is how the former couple are acting now that they are forced to be around each other.

During the last episode in season 4, Dobrev's character chose to be was Damon (Somerhalder's charcter) and professed her love to him which was beautiful considering the two were dating off-screen as well.

However, now that they are back on set and recently broken up, rumor has it that they have been avoiding each other on set.

You may recall reports of sources saying that the two will remain friends and that there would be no awkwardness on set, however we would think that avoiding someone like the plague is pretty awkward!

According to the International Business Times, on July 10th Dobrev posted a photo of her co-star Candice Accola wearing pale pink shorts, a blue speckled shirt, a pink denim jacket and black bag with the sign "Whitmore College" over her shoulder.

The caption of the photo read "Back to school - first day of shooting 'The Vampire Diaries' season 5 with miss @CandiceAccola! :)."

Both Elena and Caroline will be heading off to college but that doesn't mean there isn't a story to tell back in Mystic Falls.

Now that Jeremy has been brought back to life the gang has to figure out how to assimilate him back into society and high school while trying to cover the whole he was dead for the past couple of months thing.

Also since Elena burned down the Gilbert home so her little brother will be staying at the Salvatore mansion which we are sure big sister will come to visit very often.

While Dobrev is at "Whitemore College" her ex-boyfriend is back in Mystic Falls. Somerhalder, shared a photo from the new season showing Damon's daylight ring on top of what looks like a table that says "Mystic Falls Timberwolves."

Unfortunately for the former couple, the executive producer of the show Julie Plec has said that Elena and Damon will try make their relationship work, which means these two will eventually have to be in the same room together.

According to IBT Plec said, "We're definitely going to have our fun with Elena and Damon, who have taken so much time to find their way to each other really and truly."

"We're going to be able to enjoy that for a while."
