Leah Remini has made a dramatic, shocking break from the Church of Scientology.
The "Family Tools" actress pulled a Katie Holmes move, calling it quits with the controversial religion after reportedly 30 years, according to the New York Post. Reportedly, she underwent 10-years worth of interrogations and "thought modification" for questioning leader, David Miscavige's rule. Remini's exit is supposedly due to those reported incidents.
A source said that Remini has left because of unfavorable policies that have no allowances for parishioners questioning Miscavige's management or reported abuses. The former "King of Queens" star also dislikes that followers had to "disconnect" from family members labeled as "suppressive persons," the source added.
"It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people," said the source on her decision. "She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of 'religion.'"
As the story goes, Remini innocently asked where Miscavige's wife, who hasn't reportedly been seen in public since 2007, was during famous follower, Tom Cruise and Holmes' wedding in 2006. She was met with hostility and slurs. As a result of her question, she was put through interrogations and blacklisted from a church that she had donated millions and much time in her life.
Adding injury to insult, her longtime church friends had wrote reports against her, causing an investigation into her family, the source explained.
Another person close to the actress said she was weighing going public, for the church is rumored to use people to scare followers into silence.
A Scientology rep denied all the allegations. Tell us what you think in the comments section below!
