The world is officially on royal baby watch! With the Duchess of Cambridge expected to give birth on July 13th photographers have camped outside of the hospital in an attempt to snap a picture of the future heir to the British throne.

Kate Middleton is expected to give birth at St. Mary's Hospital in London, in the same suite Princess Diana delivered Prince William in 31-years ago.

The baby is to be born in the private Lindo wing of the hospital. Prince Charles, who was present for the births of his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry who were born in the hospital plans to be there for the birth of his first grandchild as well.

According to UPI, the formal birth announcement will be followed by a traditional paper announcement hung outside Buckingham Palace and a "lucky silver penny" will be given to British babies born the same day as the royal baby.

It is estimated that Britain will make more than $400 million in sales of souvenirs following the birth of the royal baby.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who were married back in 2011 announced that they were expecting their first child in December.

Middleton was forced to reveal the pregnancy after she was admitted to the hospital for four days from suffering severe morning sickness.

The couple chose to keep the baby's gender a surprise until birth which has had the media in a constant frenzy of speculation.

Whether boy or girl the new baby will be third in line for the throne pushing Prince Harry to fourth place, according to Reuters. The government has since changed the rules of succession where previously a male heir took precedence over a female.

Joe Little, who is the managing editor of Majesty Magazine, told Reuters that the Duke and Duchess are a private couple and, while they are well aware of the massive global interest they spark, they are doing their best to limit public exposure.

He said, "Privacy is key for Prince William as he saw the way his mother, Princess Diana, suffered at the hands of the paparazzi, and he wants to make sure this does not happen to his wife or his own children."
