Mega pop star, Katy Perry, graces the cover of the July issue of Vogue Magazine and treats readers to a few secrets from her beauty routine.

As for the bold brunette we have tome to know and love, Perry shares how she chose her signature hair color.  "I've been dying my hair black since I was fifteen. The whole reason why I dyed my hair black actually was because when I was fifteen I chopped it all off. I had it bleached blonde like Madonna in 'Who's that Girl' and it just didn't look right," the songtress explained.  "So I brought a box of color went black and never gone back."

The "Wide Awake" singer also told the magazine about the skin issues she struggled with in the past. Many of her colorful looks were created to help disguise blemishes. "We used to do like to do dramatic makeup but I think we're coming into the more age appropriate field of experimenting. You know my skin used to be a lot worst than it really is so we would do a lot more coverage 'cause I was insecure about my skin. "And you know when you're insecure about your skin you just do a lot more."

Nowadays Perry's beauty routine is inspired by her favorite place to be - centerstage. "Most of the time I'm doing stuff with big lights and lots of HD, so there's a lot of things to think about when painting the face."

Though she may be a pop music sensation, Perry is refreshingly honest and so down to earth when asked what her favorite facial features are.  "My brow and my eyes I think are what frame my whole face. I have alright lips and alright cheekbones but there no like showoffs. I can get my eyes and my brows right that really sets the whole face," Perry said.
