Elisha Cuthbert and Dion Phaneuf got married on Saturday at the St. James Catholic Church in Summerfield, Prince Edward Island located in a Canadian province.

The couple who became engaged back in September 2012 were dating since 2008. The 30-year old "Happy Endings" star tied the knot with the 28-year old Toronto Maple Leafs captain after five years of dating.

Less then a year after his proposal the two wed and had a reception that was set for nearly 300 guests at Phaneuf's estate. According to the Daily Mail, the actress is a fan of Phaneuf's home and gushed about its serenity in the past.

She said, "It's such a quiet place that we can be ourselves and not get bothered too much and have a real summer away from the hustle and bustle of our lives."

E! Online reported that for the nuptials the bridesmaids wore pale pink fishtail gowns.

Toronto Star reporter Rosie DiManno tweeted live from inside the church which was decorated with maple leaves. DiManno also noted that the bride arrived in a black Chevrolet Camaro convertible.

"It's a big wedding, probably the biggest I've ever done in my 46 years, as far as the celebrity part of it goes," said Reverend Paul Egan who also revealed that Cuthbert's and Phaneuf's nuptials were the first he ever conducted with a private security detail on the church grounds.

"I said, 'I hope the paparazzi won't be peeking in,' and [Ms. Cuthbert] said, 'Well, that's why we have security.'"

The hockey player proposed to the actress at a Prince Edward Island lobster restaurant. The star then tweeted to her followers, "Happily, happily, happily, happily engaged!"

She also added, "This has been the most amazing weekend ever."

Now that she is married the actress will have plenty of time to enjoy the honeymoon phase of being a newlywed seeing as she has wrapped the third and final season playing Alex Kerkovich on ABC's "Happy Endings."
