For her forthcoming film, Amanda Seyfried ventured into uncharted waters, far away from the girly, hopelessly romantic characters that she tackled on-screen in the past.

Starring in "Lovelace" hitting U.S. theaters on Aug. 9, the actress played Linda Lovelace, the late real-life star of the 1972 cult classic, "Deep Throat." Lovelace, whose real name is Linda Susan Boreman, starts out as a girl from a working-class family in the Bronx, New York before morphing into an adult-film starlet with the blockbuster success of that notorious film, according to NME. But reading between the lines revealed a different, more personal and emotive story.

We see Lovelace as a woman used and abused for profit by the adult film industry at the urging of her domineering husband, according to IMDB. But somewhere along the way and between the ages of 20 and 32, the star mustered up the phenomenal strength to do what some women have a very hard time doing: taking control of her life. She publicly denounced and cut ties with the adult film industry before her death at the age of 53 following a car crash in 2002.

Celebrating her life, the 92-minute, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman-directed biopic featuring Peter Sarsgaard as her abusive husband and manager, Sharon Stone, Adam Brody, James Franco as Hugh Hefner and Chloe Sevigny comes seemingly with a deep message embedded in a racy, boundary-pushing storyline. Though her rated-R film success was short-lived, her impact on sexual politics and feminism was arguably far-reaching, reported Slate.

The trailer urges audiences to cement the late Lovelace as a legend, according to the magazine. She was a woman that rose with the best of them before falling from media- darling grace and trying to get back on her feet. By her later years, the starlet had become a target of feminists, having spoke out against the adult film industry and having wrote several memoirs.
