An actress, who played a minor role on "The Vampire Diaries," has been indicted on three federal threat charges on Friday for having allegedly sent poisonous letters to public officials.
Shannon Guess Richardson, 35, is being charged in the indictment, standing accused of sending ricin-laced mail to President Barack Obama, New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Mark Glaze, head of a gun control organization, according to USA Today.
The married New Boston, TX. resident and mother of five, who is currently behind bars, is also charged with threatening the president. If convicted, she could get a five-year sentence for each charge.
Richardson, a former Dallas beauty queen who appeared in bit parts on other shows including "The Walking Dead" and "All My Children," was taken into police custody on June 7.
The red-headed former pageant lover had contacted federal investigators, claiming she had found a "suspicious substance in the fridge" and "ricin-related internet searches" on the couple's computer, reported USA.
John Delk, an attorney for Richardson's husband, Nathan, said the actress sent the letters to setup up her husband, who is seeking a divorce.
The one mailed to the president on May 20 read, "You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns. Anyone wants to come to my house will get shot in the face." Those correspondences made the claim to be the work of a married father, who had served in the U.S. Army and blamed Obama for "not being able to retire."
It was clearly something that endangered the Commander-in-Chief and the first family, making threats on the president's life.
One of the victims, Glaze was identified as director for Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a group founded by Bloomberg that lobbies for stricter gun control laws, according to Reuters.
