It was a milestone birthday for Johnny Depp, who turned 50 on Sunday.

The "Lone Ranger" actor has tackled the most multi-dimensional characters and played the most-thrilling personalities on screen throughout his more than 40-year career. From "Edward Scissorhands" to "Pirates of the Caribbean" to "Alice in Wonderland," he has wowed, according to the Huffington Post.

The actor, who is dating Amber Heard, has also been nominated for three Academy Awards and won a Golden Globe for his breakout role in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" in 2008.

And next month on July 3, Depp's latest swash-bucking film, "The Lone Ranger" will hit theaters.

His character, "Tonto," is a Native American warrior who tells the story of John Reid, a "man of the law" who becomes a vigilante seeking justice played by Armie Hammer in the Gore Verbinski-directed adventure, according to IMDB. The film also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Tom Wilkinson.

Depp is known for very convincing character portrayals, but his real life personality is very interesting.

According to Entertainment Weekly, he once said, "the only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants." The ultra-beloved movie star also plays a mean guitar, and came to Hollywood with dreams of being a top-selling musician.

And one time, Depp even showed up to a female fan's elementary school while dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow after the girl wrote a letter about mutiny to him.
