Although the stars have not publicly acknowledged their split everyone knows that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have broken up. However rumors have been looming on how the break up will affect their careers, starting with "Fifty Shades of Grey."

There have been several rumors that the former couple is the top choices for the film adaptation of the novel. Although casting has yet to commence "The Vampire Diaries" co-stars are fan favorites to portray Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

Celeb Dirty Laundry alleges that the roles of the former couple in the film "is very, very far from a confirmation, it means that they will at least be looked at when it comes time for casting."

The tabloid alleges that the vampire hunk has already gone in to meet with E.L. James and the producers. Since fans are so taken by his on screen chemistry with Nina Dobrev it would have been easy to ship them together in another project.

Now that their breakup's gone public, it is reported that directors may not want to cast the former couple together out of fear of the two not being able to maintain a professional working relationship.

The solution would be to just cast one of the stars, with most fans betting on Ian Somerhalder because he has similar features that coincide with the description of Christian Grey.

By casting one star and not the other the image of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele could potentially be ruined. But there no way of predicting what will become of the characters until casting has officially begun.

If it were up to you who would you want to see playing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele? We love Ian as Christian Grey but we can take or leave Nina.
